Important information about Profhilo® treatment

Profhilo injections contain high concentrations of hyaluronic acid.

Profhilo injections are used for the treatment of sagging skin, particularly on the face, neck and arms. They are used to improve skin elasticity and to plump and hydrate the skin.

Profhilo should only be administered by trained medical professionals. You will need to pay for this medicine. Normal doctors’ visit fees apply.

Profhilo and vaccines

For all types of vaccines (the benefits/risk of the vaccine are unchanged). Profhilo injections should not be given if you have had a vaccine in the previous two weeks and for four weeks after a vaccine or you are between the first and second dose of a vaccine (for vaccines with dual doses).

Note: Profhilo treatments last 9-12 months. After this further treatment courses will be necessary.

Profhilo has risks and benefits

  • Incidents of inflammatory reactions (erythema, oedema etc) sometimes associated with itching and pain to the touch may occur. These reactions may persist for 7-10 days. Hardening or nodules may appear at the point of injections.
  • In very rare cases, as described in literature, discoloration at the injection point, abscess, granuloma and hypersensitivity after hyaluronic acid injections may occur.
  • If the inflammatory reactions persist for more than 7-10 days, you must contact your doctor immediately.

FAQs

You will need a round of two treatments, per area, one month apart. Some people need three Profhilo treatments. Your skin should appear more hydrated, brighter and firmer by 12 weeks and treatment lasts between 9 and 12 months. Re-treatment will be needed after that.

Most people feel a light prickle but if you are sensitive to needles we can numb the area with ice packs or anaesthetic cream before treatment.

Your first session will typically be for 30 minutes, which includes a consultation with a Laser Aesthetics’ nurse.

There may be a little pain, swelling or bruising where the injections were and sometimes hardening or little nodules appear where the injections were. These typically disappear overnight. Read important information about Profhilo above.
